Smoke Screen by Terri Blackstock is an overall enjoyable read. The main characters were likeable and complex, the plot interesting, and the villains as they should be.

I really liked the fact that it was written in the first-person point-of-view (not everyone can make it work, but it adds and extra layer to the story when, like this book, it's well-written).

The pacing of the story was good, but not quite as fast and suspenseful as I had expected. That said, never once did I feel as if the book was dragging, it just wasn't the action-packed suspense I was hoping for.

It's a beautiful story full of romance, reconciliation, and redemption, so if you're looking for a deep, character-driven plot, this book is for you!
